PTOWhat is PTO? PTO stands for Parent Teacher Organization. The purpose of your PTO is to work with and under the direction of the pastor and the principal for the welfare of the school and the children in a way that: · supports programs that enrich our children’s education · fosters an atmosphere of mutual support within the school community · develops pride and ownership in school by involving parents -raises funds to supplement both the teachers' and the school’s needs so that each child is provided with the opportunity for the development of their educational and spiritual needs. What does your PTO do? Here are just a FEW of the many things your PTO does. · PTO supports our parents!! We host meetings to keep all parents up to date with what is happening at St, Dominic Catholic School. We support the room mothers for each class level. These room moms help the teachers plan and execute all the fun things the kids do throughout the school year. We plan parent and student events along with hosting spirit nights to give the opportunity to keep our school families engaged and spending time together. We were very excited to host the first Daddy Daughter Dance this past year. We are working hard on some exciting plans to host our first Mother Son event! Our board and committees are working very hard to bring our families together and keep a strong SDCS community. · PTO supports our teachers!! We work hard to show our teachers appreciation in several ways. Throughout the year, we provide various appreciation events for our teachers, including a welcome back to school lunch, a Christmas breakfast, a teacher appreciation lunch and an end of school year lunch. We also love surprising our teachers throughout the year with various surprises and treats! We have a program that allows teachers to purchase extra supplies for their classrooms and PTO reimburses them. These are supplies that go directly into the hands of our kids! Your teachers have days where they stay late for meetings after being at school early and teaching all day. PTO supplies snacks for them on these days! We also give every teacher a gift for Christmas. “A good teacher is like a candle, it consumes itself to make light for others.” We are blessed at our school with AMAZING teachers that give all of themselves for our children and we are proud to support them! · PTO supports our school! We host various fundraisers throughout the year to raise funds that go directly back into our school. These fundraisers include Spirit Nights, Kona Ice, FUNDRAY Cookie Dough Sale, Big Tuna Car Wash, School Store, Back to School Supplies Packs and many more! We are excited to announce the opening of our St. Dominic PTO Spirit Store that includes some must have designs! We help with book drop, St. Mary’s Birthday, Red ribbon week, Parent Involvement Committee, Student council events, and many other events throughout the year. · PTO supports our principal!! We work directly with our principal to raise funds for small and large initiatives and to accomplish goals that benefit our children. These are just a few examples of what PTO does throughout the year. We cannot do all that we do without parent support.
